Dollarama: In Point Form/Brief Paragraphs
The idea of Dollarama was hatched by Aaron Bronsteter while attending Brock University with the goal of playing on items from the dollar store at a battle of the bands. While that idea didn’t have the opportunity to come into fruition at that moment, it was able to a few months later when he saw an advertisement looking for bands to perform at an open-mic night. He recruited long time friend, Eric Warner to partake in the brief set, with the intention of getting kicked and booed off of the stage. If you are reading this, you realize the intention backfired.
- Idea is for each member to spend no more than $25 per show, with each item costing $1 + tax or less.
- Have played almost twenty-five shows in the last year, primarily those with themed events, which have included: Purim Parties, Sloan Tribute, Brampton Indie Arts Festival, Montreal Fringe Festival, Toronto Film Festival after-party, Wavelength, Christmas Parties, Halifax Pop Explosion and countless other events.
- Have recently recorded our first full-length, to be released October 31, 2006, entitled “Where’s The Music?” on TV Dinners For The Modern Sinner.
- Have an open-ended member policy, which means anyone can be in the band as long as they are in touch beforehand.
- Would like to think we open people’s minds in the sense that they realize anyone can perform and make people think (ie: they are bad, maybe I can do something and be much better)
