damage control are an experimental, electronic, hip-hop trio based in Vancouver [bc] and brighton [uk].
dj finlaz, and mcs sunskript and namesake like their music dark, moody, minimal, and melodic.
their debut EP - entitled 'elucidate' - is an abstract mix of instrumental and vocal music -
informed & inspired by the work of leftfield artists like cLOUDEAD, subtle, aesop rock, prefuse 73,
boards of canada, and alias.
the five tracks on the elucidate ep were written and recorded in vancouver bc in the fall of 2004.
using any gear they could get their hands on, the trio began improvising & composing together
last spring and quickly booked a string of shows in and around the vancouver area. all members
of the trio brought beats & melodies to the mix - and their live show was built around creating
a laptop-based performance that would also incorporate turntablism, live playing, vocals, and
programmed beats.
using a beat-up old ibm thinkpad, two powerbooks, live, logic, reason, vegas, max/msp, microkorg,
turntables, vocals, and plenty of efx - they performed at at the InVision festival on the sunshine coast,
and at the Alibi Room's OutwithIn multimedia festival in the summer of 2004.
when the summer days grew long, they spent sunny hours at their home studio writing & recording...
