Cryin' Adams is the solo project of Dave Smith who currently resides in Toronto, ON. Conceived in 2010, the recordings are captured onto 4-track tape decks in various basements, living rooms, and bedrooms. They sound a little sloppy, and a little off key. Live shows can be feedback laced classic rock blues jams, to banjo harmonica solo sets, and more often than not a questionable stand up comedy routine. It all depends on who shows up to play.
A 7" vinyl collaboration with Sandy Cassels is in the mail, and more CD-R's and cassette tapes are on their way. Volumes one and two of the Cryin' Adams collection are complete. Feel free to send an email and request some MP3's.
Some friends, including Sandy Barron (vocals, guitar, and pretty much every instrument you can think of), Andrew Hume (drums, blues harp, and vocals), Kevin Boyer (bass), Dan Godin (guitar), John Beriault (guitar, vocals, drums), John Hadley (pedal steel), and Chris Dadge (drums and recording wizard), all contribute to various recordings or live performances.
Dave has spent time in various Calgary bands. A classic rock/math rock/jam band (Cities and Plains), a two piece folk rock band that had little vocal chops but lots of heart (Brother Coyotes), and a Summer lounge country act (Japanese Steel). The future plan is to hit the road whether by plane, train, or automobile, and perform for anyone that is willing to listen and play anywhere willing to host David; whether that be a garage, a basement, a living room, a seedy bar, or a street corner.
