biographical info
Armed with an impressive catalogue of original material that ranges
from upbeat pop-punk to driven grunge rock and intricate acoustic
alternative, Colour in Conflict's sound is entirely unique. The group
consists of drummer Kevin Cutting, vocalist Ben Grunewald, guitarist
Robyn Slack, and a new addition, Troy Dumont on bass. While the current
line-up was established locally in late 2009, the band has been writing
and performing in several incarnations for over four years.
The band's influences are diverse. The music of such groups as Fall Out
Boy, the White Stripes, Anberlin, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have
all been instrumental to the formation of the band’s sound. Not ones to
neglect the fundamentals of rock and roll, Colour in Conflict also draw
enormous influence from some of the great classic artists: Led
Zeppelin, the Beatles, The Who, Tom Petty, and many other founding
fathers of rock.
In July 2008, Colour in Conflict released their first album, a 5-song
EP entitled Under the Affluence. Colour in Conflict were featured
performers at Grizzfest 2008 in Tumbler Ridge, BC., and have performed
at several Edmonton venues including The Starlite Room, Brixx Bar and
Grill, The Pawn Shop, The Works Street Stage, The Urban Lounge, Remedy
Cafe, Crown Pub, The Haven Social Club, Sneaky Pete’s Bar and Grill,
and Grant MacEwan College. The band is now in the process of putting
together songs for a second album.
