biographical info
The Diving Bell EP, co-produced with Winston, is set to be released in France (Nov 08, 2011), and marks a confident step forward for COG. The four-song recording highlights two tracks from the upcoming full-length debut, scheduled for release in 2012. The Diving Bell EP has evolved from the clean and catchy foundation of Equations (Jun 2009), with a greater focus on raw emotion, progressive rhythms and darker themes. In November 2011, COG will tour France and Germany in support of the new EP and to develop their growing European fanbase.
Lead by long-time friends Michael Champion (vocals, guitar) and David Phu (guitar), City of Glass first appeared on the Vancouver music scene in the summer of 2008. Driven by their passion for pop melodies, minimalism and dance music, the talented duo are best known for their meticulously crafted synthscapes, clean riffs, snappy beats and thoughtful vocals. Drummer Alex Cumming joins City of Glass to form their powerful yet understated live show. The Cure, Foals, Whitest Boy Alive, Radiohead, The Knife, Coldplay and New Order are among the band’s influences, yet City of Glass boast a style that’s all their own.
This year, COG performed for enthusiastic audiences in the UK and Germany; the band were honoured to perform at such landmark venues as 93 Feet East in London and WABE Theatre in Berlin. Their latest EP, The Diving Bell has received much praise from Canada's major publications and UK's finest indie rock blogs. The music video for their current single "Tourist," is on Canada's MuchMusic television station and is currently featured on Coldplay.com.
