Founder of the Hayloft House Concert series
Carrie Catherine is a prairie chanteuse and award-winning songwriter. Her soulful songs and brilliant stage presence endears her to audiences. Her imaginative live show is playful and passionate, featuring percussionist Hal Schrenk who brings inventive instrumentation to the stage, including a guitar case, shovel, and hockey puck!
ALBUMS
Carrie's new album Wilderness was produced by Colin Linden (Lucinda Williams, Colin James, Bruce Cockburn) and recorded in Nashville with an impressive team of musicians. Honoring Carrie's unique songwriting, the album features Emmylou Harris' rhythm section and Nashville legend Charlie McCoy to achieve a roots sound that is all her own.
In 2003, Carrie released her debut album Out the Car Window, which was featured numerous times on tv's Joan of Arcadia and Beautiful People. For her next project, she teamed with John MacArthur Ellis (Jeremy Fisher, Barney Bentall) to produce Venus Envy: "arguably the best Saskatchewan independent release of 2005" (LeaderPost). In 2007, Carrie worked with producer/percussionist Don Kerr (Ron Sexsmith, Rheostatics) to create Green-Eyed Soul, a rootsy, soulful sounding album with an irresistible groove.
COMMUNITY
When Carrie's not on the road, she actively builds the cultural community in her hometown of Saskatoon, on the Canadian prairie. She produces the Hayloft house concert series in an old grocery store converted into live/work space and performance venue. Carrie Catherine gratefully acknowledges the support of FACTOR, Sask Arts Board, Sask Music, and sponsorship from deezine.ca and Deja vu salon. She is an Artist Associate for World Vision.
