biographical info
Caracas is a two-piece latin punk rock band by Venezuelan-Canadian brothers Javier and Victor Badillo.
The band plays melodic, eclectic, latin-influenced, dance punk rock that has been compared to the 80s punk band The Minutemen, The Stranglers and to American blues rock duo The White Stripes.
Javier and Victor sing in English and Spanish, and their songs mix waltzy rhythms, syncopated beats, reggae sing-alongs and fast punk rock in a very entertaining musical cocktail, delivered through their hugely energetic live shows.
Javier plays a stand-up acoustic drum kit decked with a Roland SPDS sampling pad, and Victor plays a black Ibanez electric guitar clean through a bass amp and at times through a number of vintage effects.
Before Caracas, the brothers played in the popular Malaysian DIY punk band LyMe (Bongsai Records) and in the Canadian gypsy-latin fusion band Kola Collective (KolaCollective.com), recording albums and performing extensively.
