biographical info
At first, they were six musicians from really different backgrounds would meet up there to improvise their own versions of bluegrass, country and blues standards. Their love story took a whole new level after a couple of months, and they started writing their own songs in French Quebecois joual, crafting a sound that would be all their own, a crazy mix of cajun, zydeco, country, blues, bluegrass, ragtime and rock garage. After ranking #3 at the 2011 Francouvertes finals, Canailles is now a group of 8 self-taught hyperactive musicians, who graduated from whisky nights and will perform everywhere things are a-happenin'. Also, let's salute them for causing a borstal breakout at Montreal's FrancoFolies this summer and pretty much everywhere they ever played, in fact. In 2012, you'll find them at SXSW, Festival International de musique de Louisiane.
