biographical info
the creaking tree string quartet is the product of four adept and accomplished musicians, writing and playing the music they want to hear. This ensemble of violin, guitar, mandolin and bass has a distinct sound that lives in the cracks between idioms. It's acoustic roots music that combines imaginative phrasing with driving rhythms. Too jazzed for bluegrass, but too country for jazz; too free to be chamber music, but too structured for the avant-garde. One thing most can agree on is that this is exciting, new music.
