biographical info
Warm yet painful; dark but in the end positive; the music on A Canyon Between, Crash Delicate’s debut album, is delivered with an intense emotional discharge.
Born from the union of Martin Dam and Caroline Ethier, the Montreal band started out in 2001. Released in early 2004, A Canyon Between was recorded independently through Hitmen Music. The production of the album was handled by Yanik Daunais (Sarah McLachlan, Michel Cusson). This first recording is the result of a long process during which the band developed its unique sound, blending heart wrenching rock songs with electronic soundscapes.
In the first months of release, A Canyon Between climbs the charts of many College radio stations in Eastern Canada. In March, Crash Delicate is saluted by a panel of record industry A&R’s at Canadian Music Week (Toronto), getting the band’s name in the Globe and Mail. In June, Crash Delicate is invited to perform in the US as part of the Millennium Music Conference (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), where the PA press embraces their live presentation.
After having secured national distribution through Gaïa Disks / FAB Distribution, Crash Delicate is setting its sights on Ontario, Quebec and the Eastern USA where the band will be playing regularly over the next months. On stage, Caroline Ethier (vocals, keys) and Martin Dam (guitar, vocals), are joined by Simon Otis (bass), Paul McGuire (guitar), and Maxime Gaudreault (drums).
