biographical info
Canadian harpist Carol Farrar mixes her own original compositions with traditional favourites on her debut CD “Red Spirit Rising”. Carol took up the harp 10 years ago, after a new year’s resolution led her to find a local harp teacher. She has become a popular performer at special events, weddings and historical re-enactment events in southern Ontario.
Her new CD features her enchanting harp melodies, supported by classical guitar, tin whistle, accordion and violin. Carol also confidently co-produced the album with Heather Dale, an experienced producer and Modern Celtic recording artist who also played a variety of supporting instruments on the album.
Carol’s original songs include “Song For Blue”, a gentle and uplifting song written to comfort a woman struggling with cancer. “Red’s Jig” encompasses the epic sweep of the Scottish Highlands, while the lively “Magician’s Lament“ features a trio of harp, acoustic guitar and Irish bodhran drum.
