Haunting Aboriginal healing chants, conscious reggae
and inspiring roots & blues will melt your stress
away as you sip freshly ground fair trade coffee or
tasty herbal tea in a café that feels like
home. The event will begin and end with a live a cappella
performance by Brenda MacIntyre, with a unique interactive
listening experience in between. Come and let all
of your senses be engaged.
Aboriginal healer and singer Brenda
MacIntyre is known as Medicine Song Woman and
her latest CD is filled with reasons why. The Native
American traditional chants and drumming will reach
into your core. Brenda's powerful voice with natural
harmonic overtones will relax your body and mind.
And the inspirational messages in the music will speak
to your soul.
Produced and arranged by Lisa
Patterson of imaginit music, the disc features
acclaimed Canadian dub poet icon Lillian
Allen as well a stellar line-up of side musicians.
Guitar geniuses Rohan Staton
(Jully Black) and Tony Campbell
(Gramps Morgan), bassists Dennis
Mohammed (Jesse Cook, Sass Jordan) and Lester
Boyke, flutist Ernie Tollar
(Maryem Tollar, Chris Mckhool) and earthy percussionists
Morgan Doctor (Bob Wiseman,
Toronto Tabla Ensemble) and Derek
Thorne (Kobotown), among others, contributed
their talents to this CD. The Medicine
Song CD was created with the support of the
Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council,
Charlie Coffey, O.C. and several other private donors.
