About the Artist:
Starting as an experiment in digital composition for a music class at the University of Lethbridge, Bonnaventure James has evolved from "computer lab avant garde" in to a name in Alberta electronic music.
Now, Bonnaventure's patented sound combines pop, electronica and new wave in unexpected ways. Pushing pop songs to raucous and experimental new levels, crushing bits and dropping beats.
From performing at summer music festivals such as Sled Island (2010), Wyrd Fest (Lethbridge 2010), and the Works Art festival (Edmonton 2010, 2011).He has since opened for national touring artists like Phantogram, Cop Shades, Digits and Axis of Conversation.
About the Album:
Buena Aventura (or “Good Adventure” in English) is the debut full length album of singer/producer Bonnaventure James. Written and produced over the span of two years, the album reflects Bonnaventure’s influences and experiences since settling in Calgary, Alberta. Employing synthesizers, drum machines and sample from dusty old records, each track tells a story in a brief moment of pop music: a union of 80s new wave a la Depeche Mode or Flock of Seagulls and modern electronic music pioneers of Neon Indian or Grimes.
