biographical info

"Birgit's music is pure and honest and thankfully free from cynicism in a world that needs more hope. She writes songs that make you feel glad to be alive."
Mae Moore, international recording artist

Birgit Kuit is a singer / songwriter from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, whose soulful lyrics and haunting melodies have her poised on the edge of a breakout in the Canadian music scene.

Having just released her third album "I Feel A River" on CD, as well as digitally on iTunes and other online retailers, Birgit has been playing shows to add to her already impressive list of appearances. With two other albums under her belt (Running with the Wolves and Raising Thunder) and innumerable appearances across British Columbia, Canada and parts of the US, this folk/roots artist has been paying her dues.

In tandem with the release of her latest CD, Birgit is also continuing to book shows for her ever expanding audience.

Having played as a solo artist for a number of years, Birgit's "Working-Girl Poetry" style has garnered her airplay on radio and television, including being a live performance feature at The Mod Club in Toronto for MuchMusic. She has also been the subject of an interview on the CBC Radio One program "North by Northwest" with host Sheryl McKay.

A prolific songwriter, Birgit has a fourth album already in the works, which is anticipated to be released in 2011.

With her latest release, Birgit's voice hooks a listener in a way that compels admiration and applause. Don't miss Birgit. Her true and honest sound will make you a believer.
