biographical info

Ben Mahony writes songs of passion, hope, despair and humour. His 2003 Action/Reaction EP is getting play on CBC and commercial radio in the north and college radio in western Canada. He released independent recordings in Vancouver in 1996, titled “Scotch Soaked Oranges” and “Dualism, Cynicism and Litigation.” He also played live on CFRO, CFUV and CFRU. With his Yukon band, "The Big-Eyed Beans From Venus," Mahony has played to overflow crowds at clubs in the Yukon and headlined northern festivals playing to crowds of over 500 dancers. A return to underground rock roots has rejuvenated the creativity, poetry and accessibility of this 33-year old singer and writer. Vancouver venues he graced include The Malcom Lowry Room, The Hungry Eye, and The Naam. He played the Vancouver Press Club and the La Quena Cafe for the 1996 and 1997 Music Waste festivals in Vancouver. More recently, he played The Black Dog in Edmonton, Karma in Calgary and The Tongue and Groove in Lethbridge.
