Brian Dunn - TVs and Radios
PRODUCED BY - Dave Mackinnon (The Fembots)
Sudbury's award winning and critically acclaimed indie singer/songwriter Brian Dunn's second album, TVs and Radios is a smoky, intoxicant fueled tribute to long drives and the wee hours. Like its predecesor, Examining The Fallout, the record was recorded in the creative confines of Cosmic Daves Sound Factory and produced by former FemBots frontman, David MacKinnon- who remains Dunn's right-hand-man. The record reflects Dunn's fixation with living life on the fringes- road life, after-hours- when the bar's closed and you've lost the motel keys... Yet, the album belies that beyond hitting rock bottom, there can still be hope- and even more than his debut, TVs and Radios vividly illuminates this. It's a summertime headphone album to file alongside Daniel Romano, Vetiver, and Neil Young.
“TVs and Radios celebrates little victories with vigor, but acknowledges they are getting fewer and farther between. Sonically, Dunn approaches purity, but wisely never attempts to complete the journey. Rhodes and piano melodies dance around your headphones, but the grit of the electric guitars and snarl in his voice ensure his thoughts are never sullied with idealism or polish. Textures and notes are rationed, knowing the value they possess. These songs are natural, recorded live with the players and the composition makes this roots record sound fresh and new, instead of a dated rehash of the influences Dunn wears proudly on his sleeve."

“Sounding somewhere between Neil Young's Stray Gators and Tonight's the Night bands and wailing like David Byrne in a punctured cowboy hat, Dunn sings and plays with a chilling sense of purpose. 'Examining the Fallout' is a fractured and powerful artistic
statement that gets better with repeated exposure.
Not for the timid or easily upset."
