biographical info
Blackjwell first garnered recognition in the late eighties as a member of Slumber, a project started by Montreal's, and perhaps Canada's most innovative and prolific electronic artist, David Kristian. Blackjwell recorded and performed with David Kristian for a period of about two years, after which he disappeared. He re-emerged in October 22 in New York City as a member of the radical electro-funk group Nam:live! He has recently completed his first solo recording entitled Switchology.
On Switchology, Blackjwell demonstrates his completely non-traditional use of the guitar, which he uses primarily as a generator of textures. As well, Blackjwell prides himself on his employment of solely original sounds in his compositions. With the exception of the easily recognizable electronic drum sounds, he has created all the other sounds acoustically from his own living environment.
