biographical info
The band members came together in Ottawa, but the bassist, Kevin, is a native Orleansian, Ron (gtr) hails from Pembroke and Dave (Dms) is from Beachburg (where?). All parties concerned congregated in centretown Ottawa in the mid-80's, and proceeded to hone their chops in some classic Ottawa Punk acts, like Resin Scraper, Black Triangle, Goddamn, The Inflatable Jesus Lovedolls, Good2Go and Moral Hazard. In 2003, the time seemed right to form a band that kept pace with the standard of playing hard and fast, but introduced new, challenging elements and influences. Instead of playing in familiar tempos, meters, time signatures and scales, Blackball vowed to shake things up a bit, and have even shown an adventurous take on the few covers they choose to do - Hawkwind, Inner City Unit (the 70's punk band, not the rappers) and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.
The band now has a 24-song album out (recorded in 9 hours at Yogi's Meatlocker- lordy, they're frugal!), and a burgeoning crop of new originals.
The band's credo is that live performances are really where music should be experienced, and have built their reputation on a strong live set, so catch them when you can!
