biographical info
Sharp and edgy music plus a melodic sensibility equals a unique brand of pop. This is beggars gold. Based out of Moncton, N.B., beggars gold is pushing the envelope with their music, going beyond mere entertainment. "This is a time for our generation to wake up and start asking some questions", comments lead singer Marc Joliceour. "If you keep on the right line of questioning, you will always get the right answer." Lyrically, beggars gold has a strong desire to portray truth as a basis for living. Musically, the band can be described as edgy, aggressive and energetic, and yet also has the capacity to produce a smooth and melodic sound.
Forming in September 2002, members Matt Sutherland (guitar), Dennis Prescott (guitar) and Justin Macrae (drums) began writing and rehearsing original material. They were joined a year later by bassist and lead vocalist Marc Jolicoeur. November 2003 saw the creation of their self-titled EP which was officially released in the spring of 2004. The band has had the opportunity to play throughout Atlantic Canada, and have had their single 'Next Big Thing' showcased on a number of radio stations.
In the next year, beggars gold plans on refining their sound, consistently seeking out fresh and creative musical concepts. For more information on the band contact info@beggarsgold.com.
