biographical info

Hailing from the clean streets of Ottawa, Canada—a city better known for polite manners, obsequious bureaucrats and tulips than take no prisoners rock ‘n’ roll—come a trio of sonic miscreants you might otherwise mistake for nice kids. Featuring the songwriting, lead screaming and guitar slinging of Liz McDermott (ex-dessert baker), guitar mayhem and vocal sparring of Scott Terry (ex-water polo player) and enthusiastically imperfect stand-up drumming of Colin Vincent (ex-lead male of Oklahoma) The Banditas have been bobbing heads, breaking eardrums, and laying waste to bar tabs and laissez faire Ottawa rock for the last couple of years. Notoriously reluctant to put her songs to tape, two years of steady petitioning from local rock philanthropist Diamond Neal Johnstone finally convinced Liz that recording could be fast and painless. So in February 2005, the Banditas descended to their dingy practice space with Scott's old 8-track, 120 beers, and 12 killer songs with something to say, and got down to brass tacks. Recorded in two days, and then mixed and mastered by sonic wiz-kid Phil Bova Jr., the finished album is fast, loud, rough around the edges, and has made early listeners want to simultaneously dance and tear shit up. The Banditas’ self-titled debut appears on Johnstone's own Last Drag Records this June.
