biographical info
From CBG Artist Development, the same
incubator that has nurtured some of the Planet’s most prolific
songwriter/producers and artists - including Chantal Kreviazuk, Luke McMaster
and Chris Burke-Gaffney, comes Arun Chaturvedi.
Some may remember Arun as the front man for
Canadian modern rock group “Driver”, who performed the 2006 radio hit “She
Laughed at Me”. Since that time, you’d likely find the classically trained
pianist behind the mixing console as the “go – to” producer/writer for a host
of up and coming artists including Darrelyne Bickel (YTV's Next Star), Don
Amero (Male Artist of the Year and Best songwriter at CDN Folk Music Awards),
Juno nominated Little Hawk and many more.
Now, Arun is set to release his first solo
recording, a beautiful collection
of sparse piano based songs about real people with real lives who share their
most inner secrets and souls.
“My musical influences are vast and many”, says the easy
going 28 year old Canadian. “Obviously the classic songwriters, Carole King,
Leonard Cohen, James Taylor...but I also can't help but borrow from the great
composers, Debussy, Beethoven, and Chopin. I'm constantly being inspired and
challenged. For me, music is all about communication. My ultimate goal is to
convey the emotion of the song. As human beings, we have so much in common. I
think music is the perfect vehicle to express the emotions we all share. The
hopes, dreams and fears...they are the common thread that runs through us all.”
Watch for Arun’s self titled release, summer 2010
