biographical info

Arms of the Girl is a four-piece Ottawa band that plays alt-country folk rock with a Southern blues twist. Known for their solid live show and professionalism, Arms has been compared to Blue Rodeo, Alanis Morissette, and the Cowboy Junkies.

Formed in 2006, the current line-up consists of frontwoman Carolyn Côté, lead guitarist David Cutler, bassist Afton Penny, and drummer Chris Zimmerman. Arms has played all over Ottawa (including Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest, Zaphod’s, and The LiVE Lounge) and has toured the 401 corridor (including Montreal, Belleville, and London).

The band has three EPs: 2008’s Recipe for Living,  2010’s Warning Signs, and the brand new Versions of Happiness. Their songs "The Easiest Hangover" and “Ten Thousand Days” have received featured radio play on LiVE 88.5FM and local campus stations, and the band has enjoyed local media attention. Arms also is very active in their community, performing at many charity events and mentoring younger artists.
