In the fall of 1990, Kevin Maves and Jeremy Dahl met in Ottawa and suddenly discovered that they shared a love for the same alternative acts and a fast bond formed between the two.

Kevin was a brilliant poet, vocalist and songwriter, and this complemented Jeremy's instrumental talents nicely. For several years the two worked on home demos until stepping in to the studio in 1994 to record their eponymous debut which languished in various stages of production as money and prior commitments interfered.

In 1996, Jeremy moved to Vancouver so now all music projects were uncertain. But fortunately the revolution in digital audio and the internet allowed them to reforge their collaboration, and begin anew as Jeremy's inspiriation was fired by the new technology, which allowed him to take advantage of his multi-instrumentalist talents.

Despite the advances of technology over the next 7 years the two struggled to synchronize their work over the distance (with Jeremy's twin brother Jason graciously helping with recording and production ideas) while balancing it with their full-time work and the usual travails of life.

In 2006 they finally geared up for final mixing, and within a year, the album was done. This marks Arkana's first truly in-house effort completely mixed by Jeremy and Kevin with Jason taking care of mastering in Ottawa (with David Cain) and Jeremy handling graphic design duties. The results speak for themselves.
