biographical info
Anna Boots is a 19-year old Vancouver based singer-songwriter whose melodies and lyrics catch the attention of many listeners. Recently Anna has been performing her own compositions live at local restaurants and coffee houses where she has also been selling her demo CD. Anna was introduced to the piano at the young age of 5 when she began taking lessons with BJ Schmidt. At age 14 Anna wrote her first few songs and these songs showed the potential of an emerging singer-songwriter. Since then, Anna has spent many hours working on her voice with vocal teacher Judith Rabinovitch. In spring of 2007 Anna recorded a 5 song demo of her original pop and jazz material, produced and co-written by Bill Buckingham. For the past few years Anna has improved her songwriting skills and gained knowledge about the music business by attending workshops and conferences put on by Music B.C. This year she studied Composition with Rob McKenzie and Jazz Contemporary piano with Sharon Minemoto at Vancouver Community College School of Music. Some of Anna's successes include reaching the semi-finals of the PNE Star Search with her performance of "Rainy Day Blues" in August 2007. In January 2008 Anna performed in CMC Productions "For the Luv of It" show-casing youth performers in the Lower Mainland, and was awarded a 2-song demo writing, recording and mixing session with "No Plan B" Productions. Anna is happiest when creating music at the piano, and has also been told that her music is reminiscent of Carole King.
