ANGELA HARRIS is one of Canada’s most prolific Alt. Country, Folk, Roots and Bluegrass singer/songwriters. Born in to a musical family, she was singing harmonies for her mother at the age of 9 and started writing songs at the age of 13, when she first picked up the acoustic guitar.
She was raised in the rural Chilcotin region of British Columbia, graduated in Williams Lake, BC and headed to Vancouver, BC to launch her debut self titled CD, Angela Harris, in the year 2000.
To date she has 3 full length albums and one single to her credit. She was awarded the 2011 BCCMA Roots/Canadiana Award and has garnered 17 award nominations included a 2006 WCMA nomination for Outstanding Roots Recording for her 2nd album Roots and a 2011 BCCMA SOCAN Songwriter of the Year nomination for her recent single Family Matters (co-written with Michael Behm and Nat Jay).
In addition to Harris’ solo career, she is a lead vocalist for the new feature Bluegrass group, The High Bar Gang with fellow artists Barney Bentall, Shari Ulrich, Wendy Bird, Colin Nairne, Rob Becker and Eric Reed with a string of sold out shows to report.
She has graced the stages with artists such as Emmylou Harris, Barney Bentall, Shari Ulrich, Steve Earle, Buddy Miller, Ridley Bent, John Reischman & the Jaybirds, Ruthie Foster, Ray Wylie Hubbard and many others at major festivals such as the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, Hugh’s Room, Dingwalls (London, ON) and many more.
