biographical info

It is rare to find an artist so well-versed in writing and equally adept at crafting a good melody. In an extremely short period of time, Andy McGuire has worked diligently to develop his craft and has already tapped into a voice uniquely his own.

In the past two years, Andy has released two folk records, Moult and Body of Work (both produced by Danny Michel and featuring the likes of Kevin Breit, Bob Egan, and Dennis Pendrith, among others), shared the stage with acts like Justin Rutledge, Lost in the Trees, John K Samson, Danny Michel, and Great Lake Swimmers, written a book of poems ("Sputniks," published by Baseline Press, London, ON) and has had his poems anthologized and published in national literary magazines.

Andy's debut full-length, Body of Work, is an expansive collection of ten vastly different landscapes steeped in the perennial themes of art, love, time, and death. The record presents a voice grappling with the questions, fears, and uncertainties that stem from being a living, breathing, and thoughtful human being with a restless mind and limited intelligence. In the end, Body of Work stands as an honest account of the struggle to strike a balance between the outside world and the world within.

With a punk rock side project set to record their inagural record in Fall 2011 and a third official Andy McGuire release in the works for 2012, it's well worth jumping onboard and trying to keep pace with this widely-varied young Canadian artist.
