Andrew has been speaking Scottish Gaelic since 1996 and has been singing in the language since 2000 when be began attending the Gaelic College in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Since then, he has been devoting himself to learning the Gaelic language, culture and song, specifically concentrating on the Canadian Gaelic culture in Cape Breton. His album, "An Rathad Cam, 's An Rathad Direach" (The Crooked Road and the Straight Road), came out in July 2004. The album received much appreciation.
Since that time, Andrew has been appearing in many capacities ranging from teacher, to singer and musician. He also recorded and released his second album, "Open Eyes, Open Mind" to a packed house in Prince George, BC in 2007. This album represents a development in the fusion of Gaelic song with ambient, jazzy, pop, and easy-listening styles along with the time-honoured a-cappella tradition of the Gaels. He recorded the majority of the album in multi-ECMA award-winning studio Lakewind Sound Studio of Cape Breton along with many talented and award-winning artists: fiddlers Etelka Nyilasi (of the group The Acoustics), and Dara Smith, pianist Susan MacLean, Ryan J. MacNeil (of the group Beolach), guitarist Travis Wong, and Gaelic singers Catriona Parsons and Angus MacLeod, among many others.
