Biography

Andrea Ramolo is a force to be reckoned with.  Since releasing her debut album “Thank You For the Ride” in October of 2008, she’s become known as the “tireless road warrior” having played more than 300 shows in the last two years.  The self-booked tours have taken her all over Canada from coast to coast and up to the Yukon, as well as the United States.

In March of 2011, Andrea released her second FACTOR supported album with producer Tim Thorney (Alanis Morissette, Jimmy Rankin).

She’s been called the antidote to too much Joni Mitchell, a tougher Dolly Parton, a sexier Janis Joplin, and has even been compared to Canada’s own Serena Ryder; but Ramolo has a sound that is all her own.  Drawing stories from her travels, loves, and losses, her songs are oozing with vulnerability. Beautifully woven narratives and raw delivery pull you in, force you to smile, break your heart and mend it all over again, while leaving you biting your lip and wanting more. She is a born performer and has been described as fearless, raw, emotional, and confident.

Andrea has showcased at the American Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis as part of the Sweet Beaver Suite, had her New York City debut opening for Law and Order star Jeremy Sisto, and completed a tour of the eastern USA, and toured Canada coast to coast a number of times to date.

She has shared the stage with Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, Fred Eaglesmith, Shari Ulrich, Twilight Hotel, Colin Linden, Linda McRae, Scott Cook, and Slowcoaster to name a handful.  She has been featured at the Artswells Festival, Music on the Mountain Festival, the Robson Valley Folk Fest, Paddlefest, Sunstroke Music Fest in Whitehorse, Sasquatch Festival in Northern Alberta, The World Skills Festival at the Calgary Stampede grounds, In the Dead of Winter Festival, and more.

She has lent her vocal talents to recordings for The Trews, Martha and the Muffins, Cindy Doire, and The Strip.  In 2009, she won the Toronto Exclusive Magazine awards for Best Female Folk Artist, Best Folk Album, and Best Blues Song.  She was also asked to be a guest speaker at the 2009 Ontario Council of Folk Festivals Conference in Ottawa on how to book your own tour as an indie artist.  This young woman has years of songwriting, singing, and success ahead of her. You don’t find this kind of musical honesty very often.
