biographical info
Ana Vidovic is a 17-year old singer/songwriter from the East Coast of Nova Scotia. Ana's interest in singing started at an early age. She would sing for family and friends who all supported her talent and helped her grow. Ana took voice classes at the Conservatory of Music for a year at age 14 to obtain some formal training. She also had a fascination with the English language and wrote poetry throughout elementary and middle school. In late middle school, Ana combined these two talents.
Using early childhood inspirations such as Dido, Jewel, and The Carpenters, Ana developed a sense for what was appealing to her and mature audiences. Writing poetry since age 9 and songs from age 15, Ana quickly realized that she wanted to accompany herself on an instrument. She taught herself to play guitar and she saw it as a new opportunity to define her own unique musical flare. Indulging in music was her way of keeping herself busy and writing poetry kept her writing constantly improving.
Currently, Ana appreciates a wide variety of musical styles, and loves music with an edge. She enjoys the lyrical works of artists such as Ani Difranco and Alanis Morisette and the composition and hits of Radiohead, David Usher, Sting, Melissa Ethridge and Sarah Slean. She is able to write in a variety of different musical genres with a cross platform audience, but her own heart and soul as a musician resides in more of an indie, alternative rock scene.
Ana's current audience is in Halifax, however her main market aim is to expand her fan base first in Nova Scotia and further, nationally and internationally. Her first public performance was with the Keshen Goodman Public Library on ‘open-mic' night in Halifax. Later, she performed her song "Ruin Your Satan" there and was featured live on CBC radio in Halifax. She also played at coffeehouses at her Halifax West high school and an all-city coffeehouse at Queen Elizabeth High with various talents from the city. Ana is looking to expand her performance opportunities as her music career advances.
Ana views her music as passionate and sensitive, and puts a great deal of thought into her lyrics which tell stories that many can relate to. Her community, school, friends, family and peers have recognized her growth. People ask her if she has a CD out, and where they can hear her next. This public approval for her talent and her own love for music inspired her to contact award-winning engineer and producer Dennis G. Field where she is in the process of creating her first 6-track EP.
