biographical info

Amy Pitt is a quirky, soulful, folky, and emotional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Ontario. Her songwriting style is filled with beautiful metaphroric imagery and pulls listeners into her world through empathic and sometimes cheaky rhymes and word play. Pitt is schooled in contemporary/jazz music which she studied at Humber College in Toronto. There’s no question her soulful voice commands attention, but she's also known for her heartbreaking vulnerability and an ability to express raw emotion while performing.

Also a celebrated photographer, child researcher, and educator, Pitt uses her art to bring social and envionement justice issues to light through fundraising and grassroots project involvement internationally. She recently spent 4 months living in rural Kenya amongst one of the world's highest populations of children orphaned by the HIV AIDS pandemic where she taught music and english, as well as spearheading and fascilitating two new programs; a large children's choir and a guidance couciling program for the girls at the village's secondary school.

Amy’s first record entitled “The Melody” was released 2009 and can be purchased at live shows, at Sonicboom in Toronto, and at CheakyMonkey in Sarnia.

Currently a focused as a full time student in Children's Studies/International Bachelor of Education at York University and is "itching to get back on stage and in the studio when I gruaduate...the experiences I've had overseas and in my life over the last couple of years have shifted my perceptions and perspective again.  It's funny how that just keeps happening to us as we grow and evolve. I have been and continue to be so inspired and have written and am writing a lot of new songs to share them with people."
