The band All The Young Dudes formed in January 2006 when 5 friends from Lord Tennyson Elementary School joined the Kitsilano Rock School at 11 years of age.
Since then the band has stayed with the rock school, learning and performing over 60 classic rock covers by bands such as the Who, the Beatles , the Rolling Stones, the Guess Who, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Supertramp, U2, and Pink Floyd just to name a few.
The band has performed in all 11 of the Kitsilano Rock School's "Kids Wanna Rock" showcase concerts, as well as year end shows at their elementary school in 2006 and 2007, and a benefit fundraiser concert for Acorn Daycare at the Park theatre in 2006. The band , at an average age of 14 years , is fast becoming seasoned pros in the performance aspect.
All The Young Dudes currentlu includes Sasha Olynyk on guitar, Trevor Clarke on guitar, Michael Darling on bass, Sam Turner on drums and Charlie Mah on lead vocals. All members of the band attend Kitsilano High School, with the exception of Michael Darling, who is attending Lord Byng High .
The song that they are submitting is called "Bad Idea", and was composed as a collaboration of all members, with lyrics by Charlie Mah. It is the first song they wrote as part of th e Kitsilano Rock School's song writing series.
The song is a straight ahead blues tune with simple yet catchy hooks and lyrics, and features first Trevor , then Sasha on lead guitar, demonstrating just how inventive and seasoned they hav ebecome at such a young age.
The band plans to continue with the rock school writing series for the next 6 months and will record and perform their original material at the "Kids Wanna Rock 14" in June 2010.
