Inspired by everything from Scandinavian free jazz to Stravinsky, Ravel to Bjork, industrial/prog/punk/indie rock to elegiac Lieder, Alicia is not a fan of convention.
A Vancouver native born and raised at the piano, she spends her time writing songs outside and then trying to remember them when she gets back home. She escapes to the tropics whenever she can (is currently watching 2 geckos chase each other around tdhe lanai), has a thing for memorizing Keats, relates strongly to her viking ancestors, and pulls no punches in a round of bananagrams.
Her band needs little introduction: Skye Brooks (Inhabitants, Co-Pilots, Aeroplane Trio, Fond of Tigers) on drums; Tommy Babin (Benzine, Gord Grdina trio, Switchblade Serenade) on bass; Peggy Lee (Peggy Lee Band, Tony Wilson Sextet, Standing Wave) on cello; Ron Samworth (Dark Blue World, Talking Pictures, NOW Orchestra) on guitar.
