Independent singer songwriter Aleph Hawk releases debut album out of love for humanity.
Accompanied by a gathering of talented friends and fortunate encounters, this newcomer to Vancouver island pulls off an air of familiarity and an older style of songwriting.
Produced by Phil Newton and Aleph Hawk this album is proudly funded by hard work and luck.
An intentional independent release on cdbaby.com, the album has sold through it's first print already. Cd's are being sold sliding scale and mp3's can be freely downloaded by anyone in return for a contribution to their community. 'You can pay what you think it's worth to your local bum' says the artist.
Not stylized, honest and magically charming he weaves a story for you, and you can't help but feel it's for you. With influences like Kate Wolf and Townes van Zandt, one feels a noble sense of compassion and humanity in these songs from the deeper well. The melodies are colourful and the arrangements warm in songs like 'Ever again', with sometimes a haunting and scary tale like 'Burn you'.
Aleph Hawk is a true chameleon and tirelessly identifies with the many likes of humanity. Sometimes a hippy, sometimes a redneck, no same thing for very long. He has extensively travelled the world and resolved to use his time on this planet to soak up the whole spectrum of human experience. He writes and sings for everyone. He has at times been an activist, a charity worker, a cowboy farmer, an extremist, a pacifist, ... but he's never forgotten that he is no more than you, a human.
'There is no space for ego in this music, and if it inspires anything, I hope it is love for life and each other. So this is for you, for whatever it's worth...'
Since the album has only been released one month ago and this is a debut release, we are currently looking for all possible media attention and performance opportunities. All reviews are more than welcome, even positive criticism. Please contact us for anything at any of these:
