biographical info
Somethings are altogether indescribable. In our case, this isn't really the case at all. We can confidently say that Alboa is a fusion band from Canada's west coast.
Our goal is to create nutritious, eclectic music that has contrast,
dynamics, and pulls from as many different styles as possible: Jazz, Blues, Folk, Funk, and Flamenco, to name a few. We set out on instrumental missions to create a mood, a
feeling. Sometimes the vibe is quiet, blissful, and reflective, providing the soul with sweet, chewable cud. Sometimes the
intensity builds and builds and rises and rises before letting go to a beautiful melodic moment (referred to by one listener as a "chi cyclone", or was it "cheese cyclone"? We'll never know...).
With four members playing guitars, saxophones, percussion, and bass, the
texture is constantly moving and evolving during songs.
We use all forms of inspiration when creating music, everything from homemade soup to old reruns of The Golden Girls, even old reruns of The Empty Nest. With all members penning tunes, writing methods
range from written classical or jazz style pieces, to elaborate
rhythmic chord structures, and free improvisation.
Hope you enjoy the groove where ever you are! If you don't, keep trying!
