biographical info
Ava was born & raised in the Toronto area, where she remains based, and began writing & performing music at the tender age of twelve. A self taught & gifted pianist, Ava’s recording career began at 16, and with the help of her (producer) brother YUG she wrote & recorded two domestically and internationally charted dance tracks, favored by radio & club DJ’s from Toronto to the UK. The tracks created more buzz than Ava ever anticipated, but she chose to focus on developing new material in front of audiences, performing in venues from Nashville to Santa Barbara. She uncompromisingly nurtured & pushed this material in preparation for a time when she felt both she & these songs were ready to be revealed.
That time has now come with the release of the single “Maybe You’re Right” from Ava’s debut EP Maybe You’re Right. And on it, the product of her artistic evolution is nothing less than striking. You can hear the attention to melodic detail, and the brave vulnerability of a compelled artist, that are the hallmarks of a truly special songwriter.
