Creating a sound that has been described as somewhere between XTC, Ben Harper, Stevie Wonder, and The Beatles, the band’s eclectic blend draws from many different genres.
AU songs are written primarily by Brian Simms (voice, guitar, piano) and further cultivated by core band members: Mike Schultz (Wurlitzer, voice, accordion,flugelhorn, percussion); Adam Fogo (electric/bowed upright bass, voice); Philip Shaw Bova (drums, percussion).
Autonomous Unit is currently performing in support of its debut independent release, Monstrosity, and in anticipation of a forthcoming album, tentatively slated for national release summer 2005.
