biographical info
Formed in a suburban high school in Pointe Claire, Quebec, in 1987. Assembly Required found their way in Montreal's difficult music scene of the late 80's and early 90's. With their innate ability to blend together diverse influences ranging from Jazz, World Music, Soul, and Folk music into a unique Pop form Assembly Required were quickly noticed in the local papers and local radio who latched onto the infectious independantly released single I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE in 1989.
In 1990 Assembly Required were signed to a recording contract by Corey Hart svengali Bob Ramaglia. Sadly the resulting album - Mike Owes Us Money - saw only limited release before Ramagalia's RAM VAN records went bankrupt.
The band continued to record together and choose to avoid all contact with major labels.
