biographical info
Born, but not raised, in Barrie, ON, singer/songwriter Anastasia McCabe spent the majority of her youth writing, and avoiding performing in front of crowds. In 1999, she moved to Vancouver to study psychology, got sidetracked with music, and it wasn’t long before she was writing songs instead of research reports.
In 2001 Anastasia did something she would rather not disclose which helped conquer her stage fright. That same year, she teamed with guitarist Dan MacPherson, formed “the imaginary friends”, and released a six-song EP – a little less than full. After only a handful of live shows, Anastasia and Dan packed up and headed East, where they spent six months performing throughout Southwestern Ontario. Deciding to go the solo route last February, Anastasia continued making her way throughout the province, establishing herself as a respected singer/songwriter, and selling out of a little less than full, in the process.
In response to selling out of her debut EP, as well as repeated requests for new material from fans, friends and her Mother, Anastasia recently released "On the Radio" - an eight song collection taken from an on air interview/performance recorded in October, 2003. “On the Radio” providers listeners with an intimate introduction to some of Anastasia's most recent material.
Recently named a “trailblazer of 2004,” Anastasia will also complete her first full-length effort, due later this year.
