Almost to China began in early 2004 consisting of St.John's veterans Todd Simms on guitar and vocals(formerly of Electrik Hitmen), Gordon Lake on bass and vocals(formerly of Electrik Hitmen), and Brian Downton on drums and vocals (formerly of Hero Gets Girl, Potatobug, Chupacabra, Second Floor Daycare). The band is currently recording their debut album and applying for a showcase performance in the 2005 East Coast Music Awards.
