biographical info
When Alicia Glenn steps on stage and sits at her piano, you can’t help but feel that you’ve been invited to a private concert with a close friend. When she begins to play, even the rowdiest of the crowd quiet down and move in a little closer to take a listen. Ranging from strong and soulful to soothing and sentimental, Alicia's voice puts the audience under her spell. With her rhythmic piano playing and lyrics that are straight from the heart, you’ll feel like you've been there too.
After years of classical and operatic training, Alicia became part of an electronica duo called nullStatic, singing Bjork, Radiohead and Portishead tunes, plus some creative originals. Following two years of performing and recording in Kingston ON, it was time for Alicia to branch out on her own. Her debut solo performance was at the Queen’s Grad Club, opening for Martina Sorbara. The show was a hit, and Alicia’s solo career had officially begun. Alicia’s new material echoes the earlier influences of her life, such as Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk and Faith Evans, with touches of Motown singers of the past.
Since then, Alicia has moved back to her home in Toronto, where she performs regularly at venues such as The Free Times Café, The Smiling Buddha, The Cameron House, Holy Joe’s and others. Her 2004 Demo Release showcases a sample of what Alicia has in store, and she is excited to be back in the studio, working on a full-length album which she hopes to release in the New Year.
