biographical info
From beyond the poor hygiene and uneaten donuts comes a voice fresher than his own underpants. Take Brian Wilson and Elton John, put them in a blender and Ali Masdani will drink it up and spit it out in your ears.
Ali has spent much of the past six years living in Montreal, though he spent the winter and early spring of this year sleeping on a friend’s couch just outside of Kingston in Camden East, Ontario writing and recording his debut album, “Songs to Break a Sissy’s Heart”.
After spending 13 years studying cello and upright bass, Masdani donned a bear mask and played open mic nights in Montreal with only a guitar. Now, he has decided to reveal his face. Masdani has cultivated an energetic sound at once joyous, tender and irresistible. His inventive arrangements and catchy melodies combine with clever lyrics and a theatrical performance style that can put a smile on even the stoniest face.
Ali has now moved back to Vancouver- his childhood home.
