biographical info
One of Canada's most talented up-and-coming songwriters, Alex Baird has accepted the challenge of redefining Canadian pop music. With a musical style she calls "melodic chick rock", Baird has captured the hearts and minds of music lovers across Canada. Her debut album "ISH", has received much critical acclaim and her first single, "Tell Me" has performed extraordinarily well at radio, making its way onto playlists at over 30 commercial stations across Canada.
Baird's live performances are nothing less than captivating. As a result, Alex and her band have developed a substantial following. In fact, El Mocambo booker Dan Burke recently cited the Alex Baird Band as an act who "Draws Big Crowds Without Media Hype" in Eye Magazine's annual Bookers Report.
Prior to establishing her current band in April of 2000, Baird was a Lilith Fair finalist and also recorded a song entitled "Rain" for the soundtrack to "Silverman" a film starring Daniel Baldwin and Eugene Levy.
