biographical info
When the desire to write his own stuff! emerged, hitting things just didn’t cut it anymore So he taught himself some basic guitar skills, (regretting not taking the lessons his old man had wanted him too, to this very day!) but Hey, He was the typical rebel teenage son!
His very first tune “Faceless expressions” was a smash hit with some of his friends and family. And this attention inspired him to keep on writing and performing in the 3 piece band “Thyme” where the very first taste of songwriting success was achieved at the annual Talent show Penticton, BC, circa 1981
Wayne has been in numerous bands Throughout England, and Western Canada. But it wasn’t until 1992 that he truly discovered his ability to pen a Great song.
His talent was recognized during a songwriting seminar and contest hosted by Horizon Studios, in Kelowna, BC, led to Wayne recording his very 1st demo CD “Between the Sheets” of which all 18 copies were snapped up by Family members and friends.
Another stint in the UK during the early 90’s, and marriage, parenthood, and work related Stress, Collis found himself facing a writers block that just wouldn’t budge! This consumed him for many, many year’s, it was not until his return to Canada and the eventual formation of Shaker Green that the creative process was once again alive and kicking.
And now he finds himself writing even about statues!
Enjoy the Journey!
