biographical info
What's it mean? Where is it? Who is it or he? We don't know, but it doesn't matter, because what does matter is that it sounds like music, and those of us who like to travel without knowing where, like music. And those of us who make food out of nothing like music. And those of us who trade stories and food in parking lots or drinks at sidewalk intersections, like music. So, here's A. Palvarae. Here's a laptop and a built in microphone, the garageband program, a guitar, and the restless feeling that could only live in what sounds like music.
This new artist, A. Palvarae, released his first EP, a deep and real punch into a totally new birth of rock. After his throughout BC, he has left crowds enthusiastically admiring his fantastic song voice and well crafted musicianship. His album, Juniper Bay Beach Rocks (1) drops a new audio entity on the table, delivering creativity, soul, and passionate ideals in one smooth product.
Chill rock and roll gets a modern kick in the ass. Like a new spin on an old motorcycle, his new sound will leave you feeling fresh, dirty and hurt, happy and intrigued. Imagine the Black Keys hit with a soft but raw dose of soulful electronic flavour, reminiscent of Beck but less commercial than Yeasayer. Now add vocals that remind of both Dylan and the Kings of Leon at the same time, and you have A. Palvarae.
Stephen Kloppenburg grew up on a farm in Armstrong, near Vernon, BC. After taking up the guitar at 17 in Calgary, he dived deep into music production, trying to fuel his interest. Professionally, he has worked on farms, construction sites, painting crews and landscaping crews, newspapers, and even the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada. While working these jobs, producing music, and managing his new band, The Flat Hooks, he also studies International Development and Environmental Politics at SFU. Only time can reveal where he will be and what he will do next.
