biographical info
There are a lot of metal bands out there, especially since metal started to make its popular comeback a few years ago. With that comeback there has been a lot
of disagreement about what actually defines the metal genre. The subgenres "new-metal" and "old-metal" have emerged out of this disagreement. True enough,
the metal that was being played in the 80s and the early 90s often demanded a lot more technical skill
of its players than the metal that has developed since then. However, it is also true that almost all creative/artistic media have shifted from a space for
demonstration of technical virtuosity to a space for an increasing purity and force of emotive, effective, exprimental and creative construction that drives which is also found quite predominantly in hardcore.
7th sunn takes these two ideologies and runs with them. The band shows great interest in avoiding the trends that other modern metal bands have cashed in on. They maintain a creative and refreshing approach to a genre that has been around for a long time. 7th sunn melds the best characteristics of what has been dubbed "new-metal" and hardcore with the best characteristics of "old-metal." The result turns out to be an impressive brand of raging metalcore that, alongside an incredibly animated stage show, is sure to take these guys somewhere.
