The Story:
7th Generation began performing together over three years ago. Their versatile style of music stems from their genre of HipHop while incorporating and experimenting with sounds from rock and house to reggae and native drums.
The art of preserving Hiphop culture is evident in their style as they strive to be different and set themselves apart from mainstream.
7th Generation members have performed and battled at underground shows with crews like Swollen Members, The Rascalz, Ghetto Concept, Maestro Fresh Wes, and Brougham Camp to venues such as the Toronto Sky Dome featuring a variety of artists from different backgrounds. They have travelled across Canada and some parts of the United States stimulating crowds with their rhythmic rhyming and creative sound.
7th Generation has been honoured with the 2001 EDDY Award for Social Change, the 2002 Innovative New Media Award for the Aboriginal Arts Award and were selected as finalists for the 2002 Canadian Aboriginal Music Award for Best Hip Hop/Rap Album.
Their music and acting talent has been recognized in the nationally acclaimed documentaries, "RezCovery," "Young Offenders,"Alcohol Effects," and "Crying In The Dark." They have been recognized through media for the past three years for their hard work and dedication.
7th Generation is not a stereotypical crew, focusing on making sure their audience respects them for their music and knowledge in the hiphop industry as a whole.
