Band Bio

Getting together in the middle part of 2006, guitarist Steve Manifold and bassist Mat Hurren started to create a sound that would attract like minded musicians. After a small stint in Japan, drummer Jesse McIlveen decided it was time to come back home and join the Victoria music scene once again. Having worked with both Mat and Steve in previous musical projects, Jesse decided to call them up and see if there was an opening.

Working together; Mat, Jesse and Steve fell into the old routine of music creation and by the middle of 2007 they had quite a few songs to work with. At that time they started to hold auditions for vocalists. After what seemed like an eternity and through a plethora of vocalists, Christian Bergen came to try out. From the first jam session, the rest of 5 Minute Wait knew that Christian was the vocalist they were looking for. He fit in with the music they were trying to create, and was an instant friend among friends.

The band decided on the name 5 Minute Wait because it is a common phrase with every person. We all have moments in our lives where we find ourselves waiting, whether in a lineup at a grocery store, or at a gig to hear your favorite rock group. We wanted to connect this with the fact that the doomsday clock recently turned to 11:55; signifying that we as a race are surging closer to annihilation. This reminds us that if we find ourselves waiting too often without fulfillment, we should use our time better and start living life how it needs to be lived.

By September 2007, 5 Minute Wait focused on recording a demo that would boost and distinguish themselves as an alternative rock band that would make waves in the Victoria music scene.

From the start, 5 Minute Wait had nothing but praise from fellow Victoria musicians. With their fan base growing rapidly, 5 Minute Wait is well on their way to success in the music industry.

5 Minute Wait - Vocalist Christian Bergen, Bassist Mat Hurren, Guitarist Steve Manifold, and Drummer Jesse McIlveen, - are currently working hard to make a name for themselves in Victoria and the surrounding areas. Their music is artful, intense, melodic rock played with passion and superb musicianship.
