biographical info
2 Years in The Basement, better known as 2yiTB (Pronounced: 2.y.i.t.b.) is the music of Anthony Walsh.
Anthony is a songwriter/musician from Ireland who spent years playing bass and guitar while also writing and arranging music in various different bands around Dublin city ranging in style from folk to funk, soul to electronic and experimental to alternative. After studying music and live performance at Dublin’s well-known Ballyfermot College, Walsh was looking for new inspiration and decided it was time to start a new solo project away from familiar territory.
Upon moving to Canada in the summer of 2007 Walsh began to study sound engineering and sound design while constantly working on new material. In 2010, realizing he had accumulated a large amount of diverse songs, Anthony decided it was time to start recording and 2yiTB was born.
Interested in exploring new sounds and with an eclectic taste in music ranging from classical, jazz and pop to soul, electronic and alternative, 2yiTB knew he needed to choose songs that were similar in tone and content. The “ 6 Songs in Seven” EP is the result of those efforts and the beginning of 2yiTB’s exploration into creating music free from any particular style; instead concentrating on honest expression which will result in music that people can hopefully relate to on different levels.
2yiTB has been compared to a diverse group of artists such as Iron and Wine, Tim Buckley, Paul McCartney, Thom Yorke and David Byrne. Anthony feels privileged to be compared to such musicians.
