Deep is an energetic, eclectic, ambient trio based out of Calgary, Alberta.
Formed in the winter of 2007-8, by Chad Meda, Trevor Kehoe and Mitch Kary, the group mixes elements of
blues, jazz and folk music in order to convey a socially conscious message.
With
the release of their self-titled EP in 2008, 10 Deep has been playing public
and private shows in and around Calgary. Tracks such as “The Ocean song”,
“Maybe this time” and “Baby Please” have been well received by listeners and
critics alike. Featuring solo guitar improvisations and experimentation in
genres like psychedelic, classical and jazz, the group’s innovative live
performances are both interactive and dynamic.
On
March 29th 2008, the trio to perform an acoustic set in support of Earth Hour
at Café Koi in Calgary. The event was a huge success and showcased the group’s
ability to interact with their audience.
According
to Chad, “playing small coffee shops, pubs and bars helps us convey our message
because we’re able to interact with the audience both during and after a show.”
Members
of the group are active in the Calgary music scene and can be spotted jamming
and playing chess at the Oolong Tea House in Kensington.
