Don't know if you've ever seen or heard of Brushy One String but he is one talented musician - truly one of a kind.

Brushy is from Jamaica, and as his name suggests, he plays a homemade guitar that has only one string. And yet, his songs - which have a blues-reggae feel - have incredible energy and soul.

As this review from nola.com says "when Brushy performs, he means it. His voice is husky and raw, capable of moving from rhythmic reggae raps to raspy blues howls. He sounded nearly breathless at times, but the slight struggle for air only made him push harder, put even more emotion and force into each note."

The video at the top showcases material from his new 'Destiny' studio album.

About a month ago, Brushy released an original video for a song called 'Chicken In The Corn', which is featured in a film called 'Rise Up' - an award winning documentary about Jamaica's music underground.

Here's the video for 'Chicken In The Corn.'

And here's the trailer for 'Rise Up' (there's also a Rise Up movie channel on YouTube)

The makers of 'Rise Up' have also produced a separate documentary short on Brushy called 'The King of One String'.

Recently, Brushy hit the road in the United States, where he played the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, the House of Blues in New Orleans, and the huge New Orleans Jazz Festival.

Here's a fun little moment when Brushy was in Austin, and he comes across "Brushy Street."

You can also check out Brushy on his Facebook page.
